The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution 100 ml

This exfoliating toner is among The Ordinary's best-known products, and among its most misused. Glycolic acid is an AHA with a very small molecule: it works at the surface, loosening dead cells and leaving skin smoother and the complexion clearer and more even over a matter of weeks.

It goes on in the evening, to clean dry skin, and is not rinsed off. The 100 ml bottle lasts months even at two or three uses a week.

Three precautions that genuinely matter: start at twice a week and no more, wear sun protection the following morning because an AHA makes skin photosensitive, and do not pair it with retinol or vitamin C in the same routine. Avoid on broken or irritated skin, or straight after hair removal.
